Now here is the reason why Salton Sea Lake is a strange experience. The lake itself looks very beautiful, the water is very calm. However there is almost nothing alive around it. A Facebook friend gave me a hint to a documentary on the History Channel. I found it on youtube:

Very funny :) I can picture a skeleton on the other end with the phone in the hand - waiting for an answer since 40 years. No seriously, the fascinating thing about such places is that everything is often left behind as is, and then decades later, everything is still standing there.
I actually find the picture to somewhat humorous. Pointing out the stupid trashy nature of humanity in general.
